Yankee Candle Lip Balm: Christmas Cookie

Hello guys!

So today I have a post for you that I am really excited about! I definitely have an obsession with Yankee Candle and when I found out that they were selling lip balms I immediately purchased one.

There are five lip balms to choose from and as Christmas Cookie is my favourite Yankee Candle scent I obviously had to buy that one! I'm not sure whether they are available in the UK or not but I ordered mine off eBay from this seller for £3.99. Personally I think that is expensive for the amount of product you get but I love it so I don't mind!

It smells EXACTLY like the candle and contains SPF 15 which is an added bonus.

Overall I love this lip balm and can see myself buying another flavour (or two).

NOTD: red and black

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post today to show you how my nails currently are. I decided to paint two coats of red nail varnish and then create two lines of black dots using a dotting tool. This is a super easy design to do and I think it looks quite classy (the picture doesn't do it justice!). My nails are actually a darker red that the picture shows but my camera wouldn't pick up the camera properly :(

Have you tried this design?

Review: MUA lipsticks in shades 5, 9, 11 and 15

Hello everyone!

For today's post I decided to do a review on the four MUA lipsticks I own, these being shades 5, 9, 11 and Juicy.

I'm assuming everyone knows the brand MUA and so I'm just going to get straight into the review.

Recently I have been loving lipsticks and with MUA's only being £1 it would be rude to say no to buying a few, right?

The packaging of the lipsticks in my opinion is very simple but I really like the fact you can see what shade the lipstick is by looking at the top of the lipstick as it makes it much easier when looking for a particular colour. I also think the lipsticks feel very secure when I am using them.

The one think that I HATE about these lipsticks is that some are bigger than the others, it really bugs me for some reason. For example, if you look at the picture below you can see that shade 5 is taller and more square than all of the other lipsticks.

From left to right: shade 5, shade 9, shade 11, shade 15 Juicy (swatched x3 times).

I love the texture of all of the lipsticks and think they have very good pigmentation. I think they have a reasonable wear time but reapplying lipstick doesn't bother me anyway, especially when they only cost £1!

Out of all of these colours my favourite shade is shade 9 and is the one I tend to wear the most. I generally don't wear it as brown as it is swatched on my hand but I find this colour compliments my skin tone the best and I really love it!

Overall I think these lipsticks are brilliant, especially since they are only £1!

You can buy these lipsticks from either MUA here or superdrug online or in store.

Revlon matte lipstick in mauve it over

Hello everyone!

So today I have a review for you on a matte lipstick from Revlon. I've never really been a lipstick person until recently and after seeing this lipstick reviewed a few times I decided to buy it. This is the first matte lipstick I have ever owned and I absolutely love it!

I don't find this lipstick drying at all which I thought may be a problem due to it being a matte lipstick. I find this colour very wearable as an everyday shade and have been wearing it quite a lot.

I'm very impressed with this lipstick but the only thing I have a slight problem with is the fact that I wish there was more lipstick in the casing as there isn't actually that much of the lipstick.

Overall I'm super impressed with my first matte lipstick!

You can purchase it for £7.50 from superdrug online or in store.

Have you tried this lipstick?

New Hair!

Hey guys!

Just a quick update to show you my new hair! I've never had my hair dyed professionally and have only ever  used red box dye a couple of years ago. However, I've been really into the 'dip dye' and 'ombre' hair styles which are extremely popular at the moment so I decided to get it.

My hairdresser thought it would be best to put two different shades of blonde in my hair (you can't really see the dark blonde in the photo) and I absolutely love the way it looks and I'm so pleased I got it done!

Sorry for the HORRENDOUS photo. I've taken this photo from my instagram hence the annoying edit and excuse the no makeup face! My hair also looks so short in the photo!

MUA eye primer

Hey guys!

I'm so sorry for being the worlds worst blogger recently but I've just started uni and have been so busy with it that I've barely had time for anything let alone blogging! Hopefully I'll be back to blogging properly now though.

Today's post is a review on MUA's eye primer. If like me, you have never tried an eye primer then you might want to first try one that is very inexpensive to see how you get on with one (that's what I wanted anyway). MUA's eye primer is only £2.50 and I'm actually really impressed by it!

The idea of a primer is to smooth your eye lid ready to apply eye shadow and makes the eye shadow (or eye liner) last a lot longer. I found that the actual eye primer isn't too thick or too runny which makes it very easy to apply on your lid.

As you can see from the picture below, the circle on the left is eye shadow without the primer and the circle on the right is eye shadow with the primer. On the right the eye shadow has a lot more colour pay off and when removing both circles from my hand I noticed how much harder it was to remove the eye shadow with the primer. This shows that with the primer this eye shadow would last a very long time!

Overall I am really impressed with the eye primer and always wear it when I wear eye shadow now as I find with the primer my eye shadow lasts all day!

You can buy the eye primer from MUA online here or from superdrug either online or in store.

Book Review: Love Lies by Adele Parks

Hello everyone!

This post is slightly different to what I normally post but there is definitely a good reason for it. What most of you probably don't know is that I absolutely love reading! Ever since I was young I have enjoyed getting lost in a book and today I thought I would share one of my favourite books with you.

Love Lies by Adele Parks

Okay, so I'd like to start off by saying I did buy this book because the front cover really stood out to me and instantly I wanted to buy it. I'd never read an Adele Parks book before and therefore I was a bit sceptical about parks as an author. Within the first couple of chapters I was instantly hooked and loved fern as a character due to how normal she seemed to be. This book was constantly interesting and I loved the main characters as they developed throughout the whole book. I felt as if I was living the lives of the characters and the ending was one I didn't expect. After reading other reviews I can see people saying that this wasn't one of her best books and therefore I couldn't wait to read another. I read this book extremely quick and absolutely loved it! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a romance book with constant comedy and after forcing my mum to read it she loved it as much as I did!

Review: Superdrug dry shampoo for brunettes

Hello everyone!

So AGES ago I did a superdrug haul and within it I bought this dry shampoo to try as it was on offer. This shampoo is for brunette hair so when sprayed it comes out brown instead of the general grey colour of normal dry shampoos (you can see this in the photos below).

I thought this would be a really good dry shampoo as I am brunette and thought it would suit my hair really well but I was definitely wrong.

Personally I think a review isn't worth doing unless you are 100% honest and therefore If I think a product isn't worth buying then I will say so and unfortunately this is one of them products!

Although this dry shampoo is specifically catered for people with brown hair when sprayed onto the hair it looks more black and therefore still needs to be rubbed in to the hair so it doesn't really matter that it's for brunette hair as it does the same thing that normal dry shampoo does. This dry shampoo doesn't actually give your hair a refreshed look which means it isn't actually worth using which is definitely disappointing! However, the worst thing about this product is definitely the smell! All dry shampoos aren't the most pleasant  smelling but the smell of this is so horrendous that after spraying it I have to leave the room and then come back in because otherwise I cannot breathe.

Overall I am extremely disappointed with this product and will never purchase it again.

Have you tried this?

The body shop brushes

Hello!

So I'm sure many of you have been hearing about the real techniques brushes and even the eco tool brushes but if you are like me then you wouldn't really have heard much about the body shop makeup brushes.

I thought it would be a good idea to do this post as it is something slightly different from all the other makeup brush posts that I have read and hopefully you will find this helpful!

I own two brushes from the body shop which are a blush brush and a face and body brush. These are the first brushes I ever owned and I only actually got them because my auntie bought them but never used them so she gave them to me!

Firstly I'd like to start by saying I don't own any other brushes from any make up brand and so cannot compare these brushes to any others out their like the real technique brushes for example.

These brushes are amazingly soft and I absolutely adore them! One of the best things about this brush is the handle because it has a flat bottom which means they can stand up and I haven't actually seen this feature on any other makeup brush. The brushes work really well and they are still as strong as when I first started to use them.

I would definitely recommend these brushes and although they are fairly expensive they are definitely worth it as they are brilliant quality. You can buy them from the body shop online from here and here.

Have you tried any body shop brushes?

MUA blush in shade 1&2

Hello everyone!

So if you have been reading my blog for a while you might be aware of an MUA haul that I purchased last month which you can check out  here. Within that haul I bought two MUA blushers which are now the blushers that I wear everyday!

As you can see from the photo's above, the lighter pink is shade 1 and the darker colour is shade 2 (shade 2 isn't this dark in real life but looks very dark in this picture and I'm not too sure why, sorry!).

In my opinion I think that both of these blushers are very well pigmented. The colour transfers to your cheek very well with only one swipe of a blusher brush and this means that you don't have to build up the blusher on your cheek just to get a subtle look. I didn't really wear blusher before I bought these but now I bought these I wear one of them everyday with my most worn being shade 2!

I would definitely recommend these blushers and they are only £1 so definitely good value for money! You can either buy them from superdrug or from MUA online here.

Have you tried these blushers?

Review: MUA going for gold palette

Hello!

So today I am going to be reviewing a eyeshadow palette from MUA called 'going for gold'. I'm pretty sure that by now MUA doesn't need an introduction so I'm not going to bother with one. The 'going for gold' palette is a limited edition palette that MUA released in honour of the 2012 Olympics.

The colours in this palette consist of golds, silvers and bronzes and are definitely not colours that I would generally go for but as it was on sale for £3 I decided to purchase it!

As you can see from the above photo, I have used some of the shades more than others. What I like about this palette is the colours are easily blended and you can wear them lightly so that they don't look too full on for a day time look. I think most of the colours are wearable in my opinion apart from shade 5 which is like a bright orange/yellow that definitely doesn't suit my skin tone!

Surprisingly, I actually really liked this palette and have worn it a lot more than I originally thought I would! The colours are more suited to a night out in my opinion but like I said they can be worn lightly for day time!

The only problem I found with this palette was that it does have a fair amount of fallout but considering it only cost me £3 I can't moan about it!

What do you think about this palette?

Garnier BB cream

Hello everyone!

Today's post is one I have been meaning to do for a couple of months now as I was sent a sample of the Garnier BB cream back in July some time! When I was sent the sample I hadn't heard of BB creams before but as I've delayed writing this for months I am now aware of lots of other brands who have brought out their own BB creams and have read reviews of many of these, both good and bad.

Unfortunately, I am not impressed by this BB cream. The colour I was sent was 'light' and is the lightest colour they do. As you can see from the photo above, this shade is still too dark for my skin and when I rubbed it in it looked like I had an extremely bad fake tan eek! However, even the coverage of this product was extremely poor.

However, even though this product isn't right for me I think the idea of a BB cream is great so I definitely want to try another brand!

What BB cream would you recommend?

NOTD: blue dots

Hello!

This post is just a quick one to know you a nail design that I created yesterday using a dotting tool, Essie's 'smooth sailing' nail polish and Revlon's 'cloud' nail polish. I bought my dotting tools ages ago off of Ebay for around £1.50 but hadn't got round to using them yet. This design is extremely simple to create, you just paint your nails any colour you wish and then using the dotting tool and a different colour nail polish create a line of dots down the nail: SIMPLE!

I'm happy with how they turned out for the first time of using my dotting tools!

P.S. sorry for the awful picture, it was taken from my instagram as it was the only picture I have taken of my nails!
