NOTD: Blue Ombre

Hello guys,

Due to being so busy with university recently I haven't had any time to post so I thought I'd show you a nail design that I did last week.

For a while now I've wanted to try the 'ombre' nail design but always thought it looked far too difficult. After looking at a tutorial online I realised it wasn't actually too hard and was extremely pleased with the outcome.

I'd like to apologise for the messy picture, it was taken from my instagram.

I'm really happy with how it turned out and it definitely spiced up two normal nail colours. If you would like to recreate this look, the tutorial I used can be found here

I used the colours No7 stay perfect nail colour (shade unknown) and Essie (bikini so teeny).

MUA 3 in 1 Extreme Contour Eye Pen

Hello everyone

If you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll probably be aware of the fact that I love makeup from the brand MUA (Makeup Academy). Not only do they offer extremely affordable prices, generally their products are very good quality.

Today I have a 3-1 extreme contour eye pen in 'black' to show you that only costs a mere £1.50.

Personally I'm a girl who loves eye liners and use pencil/pen liners with every makeup look I create. I think that eye liner always adds something extra and therefore I'm always interested in trying new products.

The idea of the 3 in 1 extreme contour eye pen is that it can be used in different ways due to the size of the end. You can use it to create thick or thinner lines as I have demonstrated in the picture below.

Now for the actual product. I was actually surprised with how much of the actual products there is as I know that quite often with twist eye liners there isn't much product in them at all. The 3 in 1 contour pen is a dream to apply as it is extremely soft and transfers well. However, due to it being so soft it smudges very easily and I found that without using an eye primer it looked a bit of a mess (for £1.50, I don't really see this as a problem though). Due to it smudging easily it does however mean that it is very easy to work with especially when trying to create a smoky eye look.

As you can see from the swatches below, this definitely isn't a true black colour and as I'm a person who likes my eye liner to be very black I do find this an issue. However, this does layer very well which means it's not too much of an issue.

Overall this product is okay.  I wouldn't say I love it and it's definitely not the best MUA product I have tried. However, for the price its okay and I will use it and might try another colour to see if I like that any better.

You can buy the 3 in 1 extreme contour eye pen in Superdrug or online here.

Book Review: Easy by Tammara Webber

Hello!

You might not know this about me but there's nothing I enjoy more than losing myself in an amazing book and this book was definitely one of them.

This is one of those books that I can't really go into much detail about whilst reviewing as it will definitely spoil the book for you. Easy is basically a book about a college girl called Jacqueline as she struggles with different aspects of her life.

I absolutely adored the characters in this book which definitely made it more of an enjoyable read. Personally I feel as if Jacqueline is a character that many girls including myself can relate to and this definitely made it an easy read for me.

Jacqueline's love interest is Lucas and he comes across as a very appealing boy (if you're like me, you'll love the fact that he's tattooed!) and I liked the fact that as a reader you're not really told much about him but you find out more as you go along. Easy is a story based upon romance, hurt, pain and betrayal and I absolutely adored it! I honestly couldn't recommend it enough.

Have you read this book? What is your favourite book?

MUA intense kisses lip gloss in 'Stolen Kisses'

Hey guys!

If you have read my post before last then you will know that I recently bought some MUA products and today's post I've decided to review one of them for you. The product I am going to be reviewing is an intense kisses lip gloss in 'stolen kisses'.

When I was younger I used to wear lip glosses quite a lot but I actually hated them. I used to find that they were extremely sticky and too shiny and if there was even a bit of wind my hair was stuck to my lip and then covered in lip gloss (not my favourite look let me tell you). This meant that nowadays I steer clear of lip glosses and would much rather wear a lipstick. However, after seeing a great review on the intense kisses lip gloss in 'stolen kisses' I decided to give it a go as it looked truly beautiful and it only costs a mere £2.

As you can probably tell by the picture above, this lip gloss is extremely pigmented. Whilst on the lips it doesn't feel at all sticky and applies very evenly which I definitely think is brilliant. As for the packaging, because it only costs £2 I expected it to look rather cheap but in my opinion it actually looks quite nice. It has a wear time of around 3 hours which I think it good for a lip gloss, especially considering the price!

Overall I'm very impressed with this lip gloss and it has completely changed my opinion on lip glosses; I will definitely be on the look out for some of the other colours!

Have you tried this lip gloss?

A small shoe haul

Hello everyone!

This isn't relevant to this post but I've spent last night and today re-doing my blog layout. I went for something extremely simple and changed the colour scheme but I love it! What do you think?

Anyway, on to the shoe haul. Whilst browsing the shoe section in Primark recently I was shocked at the fact that there were so many pairs of shoes that I loved! Generally I never like the shoes there and so I very rarely buy shoes.

The two pairs of shoes I bought are both more appropriate for spring/summer time and I am yet to wear them as I don't want to ruin them but I thought I'd get them both now whilst they were in stock! They were only £8 each which in my opinion is very reasonable. The pair on the left in the picture below are black with small silver balls all over and are extremely comfortable. The pair on the right in the picture are actually navy even though they appear black in this picture (rubbish lighting) and have gold anchors on them; these are also extremely comfortable and probably my favourite out of the two pairs! In my opinion I think both pairs of shoes are extremely cute and I cannot wait to wear them.

I'm very impressed with the quality of these shoes and I'm also impressed with the shoes that Primark currently have in stock, I'd definitely recommend checking out your local Primark to see what current bargains you can find!

What do you think about these shoes?

MUA and NYX haul

Hello everyone!

I recently placed an order with both MUA and eastendcosmetics and thought I would show you what I bought. I've been wanting to try some more MUA products for a while as the majority of what I have tried from them I have loved and therefore with some money I received for Christmas I decided to place an order. As for eastendcosmetics, I didn't expect to place an order but after noticing they did NYX products which aren't the cheapest to get hold of in the UK for a reasonable price I decided it would be rude not to buy some!

MUA products:

- Lipstick in shade 2
- Nail varnish in shade 23 and red fever
- Cream blusher in blossom
- 3 in 1 contour pen in black
- Eyebrow pencil in brunette
- Intense kisses lip gloss in stolen kisses
- The artiste collection

NYX products:

- Single eyeshadow in daisy
- Long eye/eyebrow pencil in light brown

I'd just like to say that I actually ordered another NYX eyeshadow but they didn't actually send me it which is extremely annoying.

I'm excited to play around with all of these products and hopefully I'll love most of them, it not all.

Guest Post: Nail The Look

Soap and Glory review

Hey, I'm Amy from Nailthelook.blogspot.com doing a guest post for Laura. When she wrote the post asking if people would like to help her out as she’s busy with university work I felt I should help, having recently graduated myself I understand how stressful it can be and at the minute I have time off work so thought it would be rude not to help J

So, onto the post itself, after a little discussion with Laura I've decided to do a review of some Soap & Glory products. Before I became a blogger Soap & Glory was just a brand I heard now and again, I didn't really know what it consisted of or if it was any good. Reading many other blogs revealed that the brand sells a wider variety of products than I expected and is very well respected and loved. So it was only a matter of time before I had to try it for myself. To begin with I decided to test out the Scrub Your Nose In It and the Mist You Madly body spray.

Scrub Your Nose In It - £7.50
I’d heard so many positive things about this product so thought I had to give it a go. Originally I felt £7.50 was fairly expensive as the bottle isn’t very big however, the first thing I have noticed, is you only need the smallest amount each time you use it so I can imagine it lasting a long time which makes it worth the price. Also the product can be used as a scrub and a face mask so two in one which is great. The product is supposed to minimise large pores and help prevent blemishes. After using the product every day for a few weeks now I do feel it does what it says. It makes your skin lovely and soft and you can really feel it working whilst you’re using it even though the exfoliating beads are very fine. The only negative I have with this product is the smell. I’d heard so many good things about the smell of Soap & Glory products but this seems to have a hint of tea tree in it which may not be a problem to many but for some reason I can’t stand the smell of tea tree. It’s not so overpowering that I can’t use it but I was just expecting something a little different.  Overall I’d probably give this product an 8/10.

Mist You Madly - £3.50
I picked this up on a bit of a whim, I hadn’t planned to buy this and hadn’t really heard much about it either but I gave it a little spray in the shop and loved it. I think it’s really hard to get across in words how something smells but if I had to try I’d say it’s really fresh and floral and is just a really nice smell. I was also quite surprised at how long the fragrance lasts. After a few hours I could still smell it on myself which I didn’t expect from a body spray. I love to use it just after the shower or just before leaving the house. It’s not quite a perfume and I wouldn’t be using it in replacement of one but I still love it. I could also see myself using it sometimes as an air freshener to give my room a lovely fresh fragrance. For £3.50 I got a 100ml bottle but looking on the website you can also buy a 250ml bottle for £6.50, I think this would be worth the price as you only need a few sprays each time you use it so I can see it lasting. Overall I think I’d give this product a 9/10.

I’m really looking forward to trying some more of their products including the Peaches & Clean facial wash and one of their body butters.
